We often find ourselves short on time. Yet so much can be achieved in so little time by looking for 30 in every day.

Look for 30 seconds

In a day we overburden our minds with unfinished thoughts, unresolved decisions, and lingering micro-tasks which need to be done. This collective weight on our cognitive processing power can often cause anxious uneasiness or stress.

It is important to find the small moments which often take not much longer than 30 seconds to quickly act on an open thought dangling in your mind

Once an hour, take 30 seconds to…

  • Make a quick decision — say no to something trivial, respond to a text message for plans on the weekend, or communicate with your partner with a simple response.
  • Do something trivial to you but important to others— decline and reschedule a meeting, forward an email requiring a quick answer, or ask “how are you doing?”
  • Decide to do nothing — mulling over an open thought. Decide to take no action, ignore or put to rest an unresolved decision.
  • Make a reminder — put something in the diary, write a reminder, jot it down on a post-it note or scribble it down. Clear your mind of something which can’t be actioned immediately.
  • Pause — breathe, clear your desk, restart…
